Melhuish & Saunders Ltd was appointed to undertake the comprehensive refurbishment and reconfiguration of Broadbury Road Police Station, delivering the project over five carefully planned phases while maintaining the operational requirements of a busy police facility.
The project transformed the existing building into a modern, efficient workplace, providing upgraded accommodation for officers and staff together with enhanced operational facilities designed to support the evolving needs of Avon and Somerset Constabulary.

MODERN FACILITIES FOR OPERATIONAL POLICING
Delivering refurbishment works within an operational police station requires careful planning, close coordination and a clear understanding of security and operational requirements.

From the upgraded reception area through to specialist interview rooms and secure operational spaces, every aspect of the refurbishment was designed to improve functionality while maintaining the highest standards of quality and security.
BUILDING SERVICES & INFRASTRUCTURE
A comprehensive programme of mechanical and electrical upgrades formed a key part of the refurbishment.
Electrical
The existing building was equipped with a new electrical installation incorporating LED lighting, emergency lighting, small power, data infrastructure and a modern fire alarm system. Heating and ventilation systems were upgraded with the installation of a new central heating boiler, modified radiator system, air conditioning and improved ventilation throughout.
Mechanical
Externally, new insulated Alumas roof coverings were installed to the main and flat roof areas, improving the building's thermal performance and long-term durability. Automated security gates were also refurbished and upgraded at both site entrances, enhancing site security and access control.
