Oldland Common Project Shortlisted for Housing Innovation Award 

We are thrilled to announce that Oldland Common, the first new-build Transforming Care scheme developed in partnership with Elim Housing Association and Bristol City Council, has been shortlisted for the prestigious “Most Innovative Partnership” category at the Housing Digital Innovation Awards. 
 
The Oldland Common project represents a significant achievement in creating innovative housing solutions to best meet the needs of residents, particularly those requiring Transforming Care services. This nomination highlights the collaborative efforts of all partners involved, showcasing how strong partnerships can drive meaningful, lasting impact in the housing sector. 
 
Melhuish & Saunders' Role in the Project 
At Melhuish & Saunders, we are incredibly proud to have contributed to the successful delivery of this pioneering scheme. Our team work diligently to ensure the project met the highest standards, prioritising both quality and the specific needs of the residents.

The Housing Innovation Awards celebrate groundbreaking projects and initiatives that push boundaries within the housing sector. The “Most Innovative Partnership” category recognises outstanding collaborations that achieve remarkable outcomes through joint efforts. 
 
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, and we’re keeping our fingers crossed for Elim Housing Association and the Oldland Common project! 

Somerset Chamber of Commerce visit 

We were delighted to host Somerset Chamber of Commerce Managing Director, David Crew, during his recent visit to Glastonbury! 
 
David joined Darryl Mitchard (ICIOB) and Lucy Mitchard for a fantastic discussion about the construction industry. We explored topics like the importance of nurturing long-standing customer relationships and the critical role skilled tradespeople play in strengthening the construction ecosystem. 
 
Thank you to David and the Somerset Chamber of Commerce for your continued support and for recognising our shared commitment to driving the industry forward! 

Strode College Netball team 

Great to see the Strode College netball team looking fantastic in the new kits we’ve recently sponsored! Supporting local sports is so important, and we’re thrilled to help the team stay active, keep fit, and compete confidently in their matches. It's wonderful to contribute to their success on the court! 

Broadbury Road Police Station, Phase Two Update! 

We're excited to announce that Phase Two of the Broadbury Road Police Station refurbishment is now complete and was handed over on time! 
 
This phase focused on the refurbishment of the 1st floor and included: 
 
Various Mechanical and Electrical works 
Blocking up doors and installing new fire doors 
Demolition of walls and ceilings 
New stud partitions and wall linings 
Fire stopping 
Decorations 
New kitchen installation 
Floor coverings, blinds, and other fixtures and fittings 
 
Additionally, Phase One saw the installation of new solar PV on the roof which is now complete. The space is now clean, clear, and ready for action! Get ready for more updates as we start on Phase 3!

New Project: John Wood Complex, Bath 

We are excited to announce the start of a new design, construction, and commissioning project for the refurbishment of the John Wood Complex at Bath University. 
 
The onsite team has hit the ground running, with the strip-out phase beginning today! We can’t wait to see the transformation of the space to better serve the university community. 

Great to be onsite at Broadbury Road Police Station! 

We're thrilled to announce this new project for 2024! A full inernal refurbishment and reconfiguration of a live police stations. Broadbury Road Police Station will be transformed over the next 55 weeks, over five phases to allow operatins to continue. 
 
Join us on this journey of transformation as we work towards creating a safer and more efficient environment. 

Somerset Business Awards  

Great to welcome Mike from Albert Goodman and Emma from Elite Staffing Solutions (South West) Ltd to Melhuish & Saunders today. They visited as judges representing Somerset Business Awards to see why we should be the 'Albert Goodman Family Business of the Year.' 
 
A pleasure to meet them both, and we hope we didn’t keep them longer than they anticipated, but once we start talking about why we are the 'Greatest Building Contractor in the Southwest of England,' it's hard to stop!
