Continuing to Invest in Healthcare Facilities
Healthcare construction remains one of our key specialisms, and 2026 has seen excellent progress across several medical projects.
Coniston Medical Centre
Working in partnership with Mendip Vale Medical Group and James Totty Partnership, we are delivering a new extension to Coniston Medical Centre. The additional accommodation will provide modern clinical rooms and support facilities, helping the practice meet growing patient demand while creating an improved environment for both staff and visitors.
Tetbury Medical Centre
Construction of the new Medical Centre in Tetbury continues to progress well. Since work commenced at the end of 2025, major milestones have included completion of the roof structure, with external cladding now well underway and internal first-fix installations beginning.
Once completed, this modern healthcare facility will provide an important resource for the local community for many years to come.
Axbridge & Wedmore Medical Practices
We are pleased to have recently completed improvement works at both Axbridge Doctors' Surgery and Wedmore Medical Practice.
One of the key challenges of both projects was ensuring the surgeries remained fully operational throughout construction. Through careful planning and phased working, patients and healthcare staff experienced minimal disruption while essential improvements were carried out.
Preserving Heritage While Improving Sustainability
One of our most exciting new projects is the refurbishment of All Saints Church in Clifton.
Working alongside Synergy Consultation & Property and Chantrey Conservation Architects, the project combines heritage conservation with modern sustainability measures. Works include refurbishment of the cloistered courtyard, installation of air source heat pumps and photovoltaic panels, improvements to accessibility and thermal performance, together with carefully designed extensions to improve circulation and facilities.
Projects such as these demonstrate how historic buildings can be sympathetically adapted to meet the needs of future generations.
Supporting Commercial Growth
Alongside our healthcare portfolio, we have completed a substantial warehouse extension for Calleva Nutrition.
The new steel portal frame building provides significantly increased storage capacity and operational space, supporting the company's continued growth and future expansion.
Supporting Our Local Community
Construction is about more than buildings. We believe in supporting the communities in which we work.
Earlier this summer, members of the Melhuish & Saunders team proudly sponsored and participated in the Orchard Vale Trust Golf Day in memory of Toby Charnaud. The event continues to raise valuable funds while bringing together businesses and local supporters for a worthwhile cause.
Strengthening Our Team
As our workload continues to grow, we are delighted to welcome several new colleagues to the business, including Contracts Manager Alex Hancock, Buyer Gary Thompson and Site Manager Patrick.
Their knowledge and experience further strengthen our ability to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.
At the same time, we would like to thank John for his many years of dedicated service and wish him a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.
