DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
The works comprised construction of a new two storey, ten unit office block with associated car parking and landscaping works. The building was constructed to house offices of varying size and layout.
The building has a piled foundation and reinforced concrete ground floor slab; the external walls are constructed of two layers of internal skins of block work, with either a brickwork outer skin or block work with render panels.
The first floor is constructed of precast concrete planks and the roof is a timber truss construction, which is tiled over. There is a centrally located external concrete staircase and balcony area providing access to the first floor units, along with an external lift which is also centrally located.
A fifty space car park was constructed at the front of the building, with landscaped areas comprising grasscrete. Also present are bicycle shelters and external lighting.
The development houses Melhuish & Saunders Ltd in two of the units.
In March 2011, Melhuish & Saunders Ltd were highly commended for Landmark House in the category of 'Best Commercial Building over £1 million' at the Mendip District Council Built in Quality Awards. The commendation recognised their high standards of design, construction and workmanship.
